New Top Communist Party Officials Appointed in Tibet, Yunnan and Qinghai
Yesterday, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decdided to shuffle the leading party officials of two western provinces along with the top party official in the far-western Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR). Chen Quanguo (陈全国), the 56 year-old deputy party chief of Hebei province, has been named the new party secretary of the TAR, replacing Zhang Qingli (张庆黎) who served as the leading communist party official in the region since May 2006. The 60 year-old Qin Guangrong (秦光荣) has stepped up from the deputy party secretary position to replace Bai Enpei (白恩培) as the top-ranking party official in the southwestern province of Yunnan. While the 59 year-old Luo Baoming (罗保铭) has also been promoted from the position of deputy party secretary to replace Wei Liucheng (卫留成), who served as the party secretary of Qinghai province since Nov 2006.
