ENGLISH EDITION OF THE WEEKLY CHINESE NEWSPAPER, IN-DEPTH AND INDEPENDENT
China Policy Barometer: Jiang Weixin
Summary:

Jiang Weixin (姜伟新), Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development

"We should also be clearly aware that there are still many unbalanced, uncoordinated and unsustainable issues that exist in the housing and urban-rural development field."

Jiang Weixin at the National Housing and Urban-Rural Development Work Conference held on December 23, 2011.

Key phrases: public housing projects regulation and control of home prices

Core concerns: This year marks the peak for construction of public housing construction   according to the schedule laid out in the Twelfth Five Year Plan, but the reality on the ground is still a long way from the goals set out in that document. Government policy seems to have stemmed the rapid growth in housing prices – apartments in major cities have been getting cheaper since September – but the next move for the government isn’t obvious.
