Podcast: Ian Burns of Redstar Magazine

In 2003 Ian Burns quit the joint-venture in Qingdao he’d been with for nine years so he could start Shandong’s first English language magazine, Redstar. After being advised to seek forgiveness rather than permission, he went ahead without getting a publishing license. Over a year later he was raided by the local publishing bureau. In today’s podcast we talk about how he made it through this period and how, through his many ventures in China, he's avoided adapting too much to the local business culture.
