News of Chinese author Mo Yan winning the Nobel Prize for literature has driven up share prices for cultural media.

Xinhua Media’s price went up over 10 percent, while it and Changjiang Media (长江传媒), Alpha Animation (奥飞动漫), Publishing Media (出版传媒), Times Media (时代出版) and Land Media (大地传媒) all had their shares hit “limit up” - the maximum amount they’re allowed to advance in one trading day.

Xinhua Media (新华传媒) is a partner of Shanghai Literature & Art Publishing House, one of the publishers of Mo Yan’s works.

Wang Zuoguo (
王左国), board secretary of Xinhua Media, told Securities Daily that the company doesn’t own copyrights to Mo Yan’s works, but it does have cooperative relations with his works’ copyright publisher, and is mainly responsible for the release and sales of his work.

Changjiang Media is subsidiary of Changjiang Literature & Art Publishing House, a publisher of Mo Yan’s works.

The Shanghai Literature & Art Publishing House had also already published 11 of Mo Yan’s works on Oct 9 before the announcement of his Nobel Prize.
