ENGLISH EDITION OF THE WEEKLY CHINESE NEWSPAPER, IN-DEPTH AND INDEPENDENT
Podcast: China’s Gay Comrades

In February more than 100 parents of homosexuals sent an open letter to the National People’s Congress (NPC) demanding legalization of gay marriage. For nearly a decade different groups and individuals have submitted similar petitions, but to no avail. This meeting of the congress is unlikely to break the trend, but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been significant political and social progress on the issue.

In today’s podcast, filmmaker and gay rights activist Wei Xiaogang (魏建刚) talks about resistance the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) community still faces. He also explains how LGBT issues are getting slipped into the national conversation and gaining wider acceptance.
