Shanghai Stock Index Slumps Again

The Shanghai Composite Index fell by more than 2 percent during today's trading, dragging the index to one of its lowest closing points for the year.

Over the past month the index has declined by over 11 percent, decimating the gains made since the market bottomed out at the end of 2012.

The Shanghai index slumped 2.44 percent on Monday, falling to 1,958.27 points, only a few points above the lowest close for the year which occutred on June 27 when the index dropped to 1950 points.
