Beijing Officials: Not All Individuals With a "Collective Hukou" Prohibited from

管理员

The Beijing Housing and Urban-rural Development Commission and its Fengtai District branch yesterday denied media reports that suggested individuals with a "collective-hukou" would not be allowed to purchase property in the capital. A collective hukou refers to the temporary registration that many students and employees of Beijing institutions are able to have while working or studying in the capital. Representatives of the commission said that the Beijing government was currently drafting related policies and it's not true that all those with a collective Beijing hukou would be subject to purchase restrictions as part of the new policies. However, Chen Zhi, vice general secretary of Beijing Property Association, was reported as saying that college students, with a collective Beijing hukou, will be prevented from purchasing property.
