Work Starts on Sections of the Central Route of South-to-North Water Transfer Pr

Work officially began on sections of the central route of the ambitious South-to-North Water Transfer Project yesterday, the route is one of three proposed project, two of which will divert water from central China to the northern cities of Beijing and Tianjin. Work on the project is expected to be completed no later than Oct 11, 2013 and water is expected to flow through the channel in 2014. The central route is from Danjiangkou Reservoir on the Han river, a tributary of the Yangtse River, to Beijing. The work on the northern side of the Yellow River has already been completed and now work is focused on connecting the rivers south of there.
