Personal Income Tax Will Not be Altered According to Region

管理员

At the Liujiazui Forum held in Shanghai over the weeked, Cong Ming, director of the Tax Policy and Legislation Department of the State Administration of Taxation (SAT), told attendees that China's tax bureau was not considering any plan to levy personal income tax at variable levels in different parts of the country. Draft amendements to the personal income tax law that were expected to be passed at the most recent meeting of the standing committee of China's National People's Congress were instead sent back for further revision and public comment after serious disagreements among law makers in regard to the appropriate level at which tax should start being levied on individuals. Given the gap between income levels in the more prosperous eastern regions and other areas of China, some have suggested applying differential policies in different areas.
