Central Government Sends Teams to Investigate Illegal Golf Course Construction

The State Council, in collaboration with 11 other central government departments has assigned two special teams to investigate the construction of golf courses in 10 provincial-level areas, including Beijing. Even though the State Council ordered a halt to the construction of golf courses in 2004, many developers have found ways to evade the ban by building “Countryside Sports Parks” or “Leisure Centers.”
