Peking University Puts Cap on Daily Tourist Numbers

As of Jul 9, Peking University has been limiting the number of tourists that are allowed to enter the grounds of China's most well-know university to 5,000 a day. The university is permitting 3,000 people who are with tourist groups and a further 2,000 individual to enter the campus. The deputy head of security at the university said the limits are “for the sake of safety. After the summer holiday peak season is over, we will do away with the limits”. Others argue that the restrictions on visitor numbers are inappropriate and also say that the new rules should have be announced ahead of their introduction.
