Red Cross Society of China to Launch Online Platform Which Details Spending

In the wake of an internet scandal that has damaged the reputation of China's Red Cross Society, the charity announced yesterday that they'll be launch a new online platform on Jul 31 that will reveal more details of how much they collect and how donations are spent. The Secretary-General of China's Red Cross Wang Rupeng (王汝鹏) said the platform is basically a huge database that tracks details of donations received and how the money is spent. During the trial period, the Red Cross will make public information about the donations made to the Yushu (玉树) Earthquake fund. Not everyone reacted well to the announcement, outspoken author Murong Xuecun (慕容雪村) was quoted as saying, "Give a full explanation about the Guo Meimei affair first. If there is no clear explanation, we insist on refusing to make any donations to the China Red Cross."
