China's Largest Power Companies Suffer Heavy Losses

According to China Electricity Council, in the first half of this year, the country's five largest power companies have suffered losses of 15.38 billion yuan from their thermal power generation business, this is 9.52 billion yuan more than the losses registered in the first half of last year. Analysts explain that the main reason for such heavy loss is the rise in domestic coal prices which have been rising continuously since March.
