Shanghai and Shenzhen A-Shares Down 2% on Opening

The main boards of the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges opened lower this morning, affected by the heavy losses on both the European and American exchanges, mirroring early trading on other regional stock markets. The Shanghai A-share index opened at 2620.28 points, down 63.76 points, or 2.38% on yesterday's close. Shenzhen Component Index reported 11,585.9 points, down 348.47 points, or 2.92% on yesterday's close.
