MOHURD: Work Has Begun on 86% of 2011 Public Housing Quota
The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development published data on their official website revealing that between Jan and Aug this year, work began on 8.68 million public subsidized housing units around the country (excluding the Tibetan Autonomous Region), meaning that construction is underway on 86% of the year-end goal of completing 10 million units of public housing. According to the ministry, Hebei, Liaoning, Fujian, Shandong and Shaanxi have already began work on more apartments than were included in their annual quota. At the other end of the spectrum, Guangdong province lags other provinces, with work on only 66% of the provinces target beginning before the end of August.
