* 100,000 yuan the price of the Piaget Emperador said to be worn by the deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Governance (国家行政学院) Zhou Wenzhang (周文彰). The above image, that supposedly shows Zhou wearing his expensive watch, was posted to Sina Weibo.

Many high-ranking Chinese officials earn basic annual salaries lower than the price of a Piaget Emperador. Such conspicuous signs of unexplained wealth prompted one Chinese blogger to post pictures of officials with their watches.

* 27 foreign prostitutes arrested by Beijing police

Global Times: Beijing police have arrested 112 suspects in connection with four prostitution rings, including 27 foreign prostitutes, the Global Times learned from police on Sunday. 

A special team of 340 police conducted investigations and then raided the gang's hideouts and homes on September 6.
