A dozen securities companies, including Haitong Securities, Everbright Securities, Guotai Junan Securities and CITIC Securities, have begun to accept client applications for newly unveiled margin financing services. These companies will be followed by Guangfa Securities and Guoxin Securities, who will start accepting applications on March 25 and March 29 respectively. The new services will allow investors to borrow cash from securities brokers in order to buy securities or alternatively borrow equities from securities brokers in an attempt to profit via short selling.
