Outlook Weekly, a magazine published by the Xinhua News Agency and closely affilitated to the central government, reported that central authorities had recently introduced new regulations to manage the presence of local government offices in the Chinese capital. The moves will result in thousands of these representative offices, which function to lobby on behalf of local governments and have a dubious reputation, being closed down over the next six months.
