Mainland China's First Case of Swine Flu Confirmed

China announced its first confirmed case of A/H1N1 swine influenza in the mainland on Monday morning.

A 30-year-old man surnamed Bao was tested positive for A/H1N1 influenza, according to a statement posted on the Chinese Ministry of Health website. The Ministry also announced that they have reported the case to the World Health Organization.

The man had a fever and also exhibited other symptoms on arrival in Chengdu on a flight originating in Beijing on May 9.

The Ministry also revealed that most passengers on the same flight with the man, had been placed under medical observation at local hospitals.
