Beijing Government Pledges 134,000 Government Subsidised Apartments in 2010

The Beijing municipal government has announced plans to construct or purchase 134,000 subsidised low-income housing this year, a figure, that if achieved, will mean that over 50% of all new apartments in the city will cater to low- and middle-income earners. The government has also announced that over 50% of all the residential land made available for residential property development in the city this year must be set aside for low-income or subsidised housing projects.
