Beijing Residents Average a 52 Minute Commute to Work

Beijing residents rank the first on a national list ranking the average length of the home-to-work commute across 50 Chinese cities, according to the 2010 China's New Urbanization Report published by the Chinese Academy of Science. Beijing led the country with an average 52 minute commute to work but the capital was closely followed by Shanghai and Shenzhen where residents spend an average of 47 and 46 minutes getting to work respectively. The average commute for all cities surveyed was 42 minutes.
