NDRC Official Proposes Subsidies as Means to Ameliorate Effect of Rising Prices

During a Q&A session hosted by the People's Daily yesterday, Zhou Wangjun - deputy director of the National Development and Reform Committee's office concerned with monitoring prices - responded to questions from Chinese internet users about rising prices and inflation. Mr. Zhou suggested that the government should provide a special allowance to citizens in order to maintain the affordability of certain consumer goods.
