Economic data from the first quarter of 2011 for China's 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions are gradually being released, so far, of the 16 provincial-level entities that have released their first quarter figures, 14 have registered a drop in the rate of growth compared to the same period last year. The two exceptions are Hunan province, which grew at 13.9% in the first quarter of 2011, up from a growth rate of 13.6 over the same peiod in 2010, and Xinjiang Autonomous Region. which grew at 11.5%, just a fraction faster than the 11.4% rate of growth registered at the start of last year.
