"Looking at it from a short-term basis, the possibility of iron ore prices going up in the coming year is quite small," Luo Bingsheng, vice-chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association predicted at CISA's fourth news briefing this year. He admitted that "the three mining giants are still the big players" and hoped that a win-win solution could be negotiated. Reports from Rio Tinto's investor seminar held in Melbourne on Monday, indicate that the mining company is appoaching the negotiations with an open mind but that they expect iron ore prices to continue to rise into 2010.
