Villagers in Yunnan Protest Against Land Seizure and Relocation Policies

More than 2,000 villagers in Yunnan's Suijiang County blocked roads and scuffled with police, including the head of the local public security bureau, in a protest against land seizure and relocation polices from March 25 to 29. This is the first reported case of police becoming involved in a "mass incident" related to a land dispute since the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice prohibiting police from participating in "non-security activities," including land expropriation earlier this month.
