The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) gave permission to local governments to raise the price of electricity in 16 provinces over a week ago. The largest jump in grid prices is in Shanxi, where the price of one kilowatt-hour went up by 2.6 fen. According to reports, the price increase will be shouldered by the transmission companies instead of being passed on to end consumers.

The People’s Bank of China has decided, to raise the required reserve ratio (RRR) of deposit-oriented financial institutions by 0.5 percentage points beginning April 21st. The move aims to freeze 360 billion yuan in banking capital. This is the fourth time the central bank has raised the required reserve ratio this year.

The personal income tax reform project will be submitted during the executive meeting of NPC on April 22, according to China National Radio.
