Twenty-seven Sinopec gas stations reduced their prices by an average of 0.3 yuan per liter in response to increasing competition in Beijing's retail fuel market. For the first time, some of the stations are selling fuel for less than what the official price was before the latest national price hike.

Six of China's national ministries and commissions yesterday jointly announced that they would work together to help cultivate national auto and auto parts multinationals. They aim to lift the share of the country's exports contributed to by automotive products to 10% by 2020.

Central Huijin to Issue 80 Billion Yuan of Bonds
Citing unnamed sources, media reports yesterday claimed that Central Huijin Investment Company was planning to issue yuan-denominated bonds worth up to 80 billion yuan. The source added the company would use funds raised through bond issuance to inject in to the Export and Import Bank of China and China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation.

A/H1N1 Flu Death Toll Rises to 36
As of November 11, 36 people have died as a result of A/H1N1 influenza on the mainland, according to Ministry of Health. The ministry has reported 62,871 confirmed cases of infection, of which 47,077 patients have already recovered.

Aviation Fuel Surcharge Returns
After being suspened for the past 10 months, Chinese domestic airliners have once again been authorized to charge passengers a fuel surcharge on domestic passenger flights. The recent rise in fuel prices has lead the National Development and Reform Commission to allow the surcharge of 20 to 40 yuan per passenger, which was first introduced in August, 2005, to once agin be added to ticket prices.

Average Housing Prices Up 3.9% Across the Country
The average price of housing in 70 of China's large and medium-sized cities rose by 3.9% in October compared with the same period last year. Data from the National Bureau of Statistics reveals that the average price of housing has been going up on a month-by-month basis for the past eight months.
