Another Small Aftershock
Another small aftershock about 20 min ago (details here )
In addition to the 6.2 one from this morning, this one was not so bad, just a slight swaying feeling.
Again, an emergency sms message was sent out a few seconds before the earthquake could be felt.
Tokyo seems a little more chaotic today - although they haven't gone ahead with planned blackouts (my hotel was supposed not to have electricity from 13:50 to 15:30).
However, subway has been effected - and a lot of people have not been able to make it to work.
ZFF landed at airport at about 2pm local time but is having trouble getting from airport to center of town as train line is down.
He has to wait until 5pm to take a bus, which means he won't get to hotel until about 8pm.
I've been busy trying to contact people to interview - though it will be hard if transport difficulties continue tomorrow.
Might need to hire bikes to get around
My friend at the Nuclear Power Company says no-one is willing to go on record - while others who are more senior are too busy dealing with the crisis to talk to media.
Reports of shops selling out of goods not happening where I am in Tokyo and in many ways life is going on as normal - deliveries being made, people having coffee in cafes etc
Just problems getting around the city the most difficult problem right now.
