In response to online complaints that China’s fuel prices have risen 2,630 Yuan per ton since June 20, 2008, an anonymous official with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has said that the price of fuel is actually lower than in 2008. The official claims that while the international price of fuel rose from 45 US Dollars per barrel to around 75 US Dollars per barrel in the past two years, a 70% increase, China’s prices increased by only 30%.
