Electricity Prices Could Rise as Early as Next Month Under New Proposal

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) published two alternate proposals for lifting the cost of residential electricity prices on October 9, each of the plans is based on a three tiered system that will charge those who consume more than a set quota of electricity a month at a higher rate. The NDRC argues that most low-energing consuming households will remain largely unaffected under either of the two proposed price reform models.
