The People's Bank of China plans to set up an Internet banking platform before next June, enabling consumers to accomplish various tasks by logging into any bank's website, Ouyang Weimin, Director of Payment System Department at China's central bank, announced yesterday.

Beijing to Replace Temporary Residence Permits with Smart Chip Visas
From early next year, the Beijing municipal government will start issuing new "smart-chip resident visas" in place of the current temporary residence permits for those working in the capital who don't possess a Beijing hukou. Workers with the new visa will be eligible to receive government support in the area of education, medical services and housing.

Four People Dead After Taking A/H1N1 Vaccine
A total of four Chinese people have died after being injected with the vaccine of A/H1N1 influenza. According to Liang Wannian, the director of the Emergency Office under the Ministry of Health, three of the deaths had nothing to do with the vaccine but were coincidental, the fourth death is still being investigated.

Average Housing Prices Up 20.8%
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average price of one sqm of residential housing across the country, as measured from January to October this year, is 4,751 yuan, up 20.8% on last year's figure. Meanwhile, the floor space of buildings sold across the nation has increased by 48.4%. Total slaes of commercial apartments has surged by 79.2%.
